The Neurobehaviour Clinic is a neuropsychiatric assessment service run on Wednesday and Thursday afernoons at the Repatriation Campus of Austin Health in West Heidelberg. Its core team is comprised of two psychiatrists, a psychiatric registrar, a neuropsychologist and a behavioural neurologist The clinic is conveniently located and run alongside a separate neurology clinic to facilitate quick cross-referral in cases where neurology and psychiatry issues co-exist or blend into each other. Patients who attend this clinic also have access to specialist investigations and neuroimaging such as MRI, SPECT and PET, via the Austin Hospital. A key highlight of this clinic is the monthly Functional Imaging Group (FIG) meeting where complex cases get discussed in a multi-disciplinary setting that includes psychiatry, neuropsychology, neurology and the neuroimaging physician. During this unique clinico-pathological session, the relevant neuroimaging is projected and discussed alongside other historical and investigative findings, in order to reach consensus on some of the "trickier" diagnoses or syndromes. The Neurobehaviour Clinic is only suitable for those who can attend a hospital outpatients department. Those who need inpatient neuropsychiatric assessment may be referred to the Royal Melbourne Hospital Neuropsychiatric Unit . |
